In this article, we give some important Biblical guidelines for those men who have been asking us for answers to questions about how to deal with the devastating spirit of Jezebel in their wives.

When you are married to a woman who has the Jezebel spirit, you are living in a constant state of power struggle and war. She will rebelliously quarrel and fight you to always be right, and will never in a million years admit to doing anything wrong, but instead she will put all the blame solely on you! She is always perfect! She will undermine and disrespect your authority as the head and leader of your home, and take matters in her own hand by bossing you around and pridefully lecturing you on how to treat her. To the outside world she puts up a nice religious face for all to see how wonderful and blameless she is, and everybody seems to fall into that trap and cater to her. But you as the husband feel lost and defeated, not knowing what to do. You are being abused through her intimidation, guilt trips, control and manipulation, and there is no peace!

It is like what Jehu said about King Ahab’s wife Queen Jezebel to King Joram:

How can there be peace as long as the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother, Jezebel, are all around us?

2. Kings 9:22 NLT

It is time for you husbands to rise up and do something about your situation! First of all, you need to know that the Bible says that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer and yet is abusive. You should not even eat with such a person (see 1. Corinthians 5:11).

A woman with a Jezebel spirit is an abusive person who does not want to submit to God’s order, period! Whether in marriage or church, she will not give in (see Revelation 2:21)! Therefore, you have to confront her with the question of whether or not she is willing to continue living with you under the banner of your God-given leadership, as stated in Ephesians 5:23 and 1. Corinthians 7:12 NLT:

For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. If a Christian man has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to continue living with him, he must not leave her.”

Ephesians 5:23 NLT

But if the wife, who isn’t a believer, insists on leaving, let her go. In such cases the Christian husband is no longer bound to the other.

1. Corinthians 7:12 NLT

In other words, either she stays and submits to the authority God has given you as her husband, or she will end up leaving, because you are now lovingly taking charge over her as the leader of your household as you are supposed to do as a man of God! You will no longer allow or tolerate any ungodly rebellious behavior in your home! Just let her go if she does not want to comply and wants to leave! For God has called you to live in peace (see 1. Corinthians 7:15)!
