Excerpts from the book, “I REMEMBER – The Life of a Prophet” by Edwin Christiaan

“I remember desperately saying to God during a church meeting I was invited for in the early 80’s, “If it’s really true that you exist, come into my life and change me.” Immediate, it was like a chain broke inside of me and I was so deeply convicted of my sins, I couldn’t stop crying for two days. I was so overwhelmed by God’s forgiving love and mercy.

Sometime later, I remember meeting an elderly Christian lady, whose joy and purpose in life was to pray. She told me that she wanted to adopt me as her spiritual son and committed to pray for me just like she was praying for another young man. She leaned forward and looked intensely at me and told me in a tender voice, “God told me to tell you that you will always live by the Word of God.” She paused a moment, and continued, “Also, I see that you will become a prophet of God.”

I received the word wholeheartedly, yet not totally understanding at the time what it meant. Later on, I found out that the other young man she also adopted as her spiritual son had gone astray and left God. Hearing this saddened me, but it made me grateful that I have been able to hold on to my faith all these years and in all the things I have been through. That specific word the lady gave me has become the cornerstone of my life – living by the Word of God.”

In 1988, after attending a missionary school and Bible seminar, God called me to start an outreach ministry among young people in Holland, particularly among the punkers and alternative youth. I gave it the name God’s Pleasure, ‘Gods Plezier’ in Dutch. The ministry was under the supervision of an existing church, and by God’s grace, it grew from nothing to a church of about 300 members in 7 years. Many gave their lives to Jesus Christ and were set free from drug and alcohol addiction. We also saw many miracles of healing and restoration. God’s Pleasure became known for its great love and many visited from other countries to experience this unusual church.

The church was able to buy what we called “young adult boys and young adult girls homes” in order to rehabilitate those who needed it, and also to promote Biblical living and sharing together. Besides weekly Bible studies and Church services, we also organized Christian rock concerts where my heavy metal band, Decision D, became one of the house bands. Decision D was signed by a secular record label and we produced 3 albums and toured extensively. God’s Pleasure ultimately had about 35 people working full-time in the ministry.

As the years went by, the media started picking up on the activities we were doing as a church, mainly the part about having a Christian heavy metal band in the church, which I was the lead singer of, but also because of our radical approach in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and hosting a Christian rock music show on the national radio.

Through the media exposure, we started experiencing resistance from the religious establishment in Holland, who didn’t like the way we operated as a vibrant, young, different-looking church.

In 1994, God told me to move to the United States, to the city of Houston, Texas. I told my staff at the time that I wanted to resign as the leader of the church. They felt it wasn’t the right time, so I was stalling, trying to find God’s perfect timing for my move. In reality, I was struggling with the fact that I was disobeying God by not leaving when He told me to. My wife at that time, didn’t want to go to America and resisted and rejected me strongly. She hated America.

During this time of me wanting to leave, two adult girls came to the church. They claimed they were abused at home and wanted the protection of the church. My then wife and some of the staff members wanted the girls to be admitted to the young adult girls houses, to which I strongly disagreed. I sensed trouble. One of the girls’ mother was a very strong and outspoken woman in the religious environment, who also had a lot of influence in the ears of many pastors at the time. Even though I felt warned, I eventually gave in to my wife and the staff members’ urging, against my better judgment.

Sure enough, the mother of one of the girls started persecuting us as a church and me as a person through the media, claiming we were holding her daughter from her. We suffered greatly for that.

I slowly started to understand which spiritual forces I was dealing with and discerned the mother’s spirit to be the notorious evil Jezebel Spirit. This was a different form of the Jezebel Spirit than the one I was familiar with from growing up with a Jezebel mother. I also realized that all the persecution and false accusations against me came from the influence of this Jezebel Spirit, causing even some of my own church members to turn against me with lies and slander, smearing my reputation by distorting the truth about my actions as a leader, portraying them in a twisted and absurd light. I was heavily persecuted, accused of embezzling money, having sexual relationships with women in the ministry, having pornographic videos, and even molesting children. It was absolutely grueling to go through, but God gave me strength and encouragement through his Word by educating me about what the mighty men of God in the Bible suffered for the sake of Christ. It taught me an invaluable lesson as a Christian, that I am now able to teach and encourage others with.

Taking these girls in also ultimately led to my wife at that time falling in sexual sin with one of the girls. When this happened, I was advised to leave her because of her infidelity, but due to fear and because of our son, I wasn’t able to do so. Despite the counsel I received, I was somehow paralyzed, feeling compelled to take the blame of her sin, and the breaking of the church that followed, upon myself. Looking back, I acted very cowardly. However, the situation now finally propelled me to go to America, where I sought counseling for our marriage.

When we arrived in America and sat down with our Christian counselors, their diagnosis of my wife was that she was an SRA-victim. Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) can be defined as the psychological, sexual, and/or physical assault forced on an unwilling human victim, and committed by one or more Satanists according to a prescribed ritual, the primary aim of which is to fulfill their need to worship Satan.

I had to submit to their counseling, but in my heart, I knew it was not quite right. I started putting the puzzles together, and saw a picture of how my wife, my wife’s mother, the lady who persecuted me in the media, and my own mother were all coming from the same line of familiar evil spirits, which was what the Devil had used to persecute me. I came to the bitter conclusion, after studying the topic extensively, that not only did my wife possess this rebellious spirit of Jezebel, but also that there was no cure for it. I remember asking many spiritual leaders and pastors who had knowledge about this subject if they knew of anyone who was fully possessed by the spirit of Jezebel who had been delivered from it. No one could give me any examples. Even in all the books I read on the subject, there were no testimonies of anybody with the spirit of Jezebel being set free. I also understood that because I had been raised up and lived under this spirit, I had married out of a familiar spirit. In other words, I had married my wife, not because of true love, but because her spirit attracted me unknowingly.

I was torn to speak out, but I kept it to myself out of fear of contradicting the counselors. But along the way, I kept being confirmed in my conviction that I was in fact dealing with the Jezebel Spirit in my wife. The marriage was a continuous battle and struggle.

I went back to Holland after some months to try to dissolve God’s Pleasure in the appropriate way, since I believed that the season for the ministry had come to an end. But the new leadership refused and within a year, the church fell apart under their leadership.

I met with most of the church members which was a great blessing and an encouragement to me. I was able to reconcile with many of them, and I also wrote letters of apology to those who felt hurt, disappointed, or inappropriately treated in any way. I took full responsibility for the way the church had come to an end.

After our time of marriage counseling in the US, we stayed a while on my birth Island of Curacao in the Caribbean. Then, after miraculously obtaining US visas, we moved to the United States to start a ministry in the area of Montrose, which was a predominantly homosexual community in the city of Houston, Texas. This area was also called the graveyard for pastors, since many who had tried to evangelize in this area, had fallen into sexual sin.

Miraculously, God used an elderly Jewish lady to give us one of her mansions for the purpose of the ministry. In 1998, I registered a non-profit organization named The Original God, Inc. and started a church ministry reaching out to the homosexuals, transvestites, and homeless. Even though I was never a homosexual myself, God used me to preach a radical message of salvation, and we saw many give their lives to Jesus Christ and be set free. We also gave the homeless warm meals and were able to distribute clothing and necessities from our storage room. I organized Christian gospel concerts and outdoor festivals with well-known bands. People were coming from all over to see what God was doing in this unusual church, where men were standing with lifted arms in worship wearing dresses, lipstick, and high heels and experiencing the power of God delivering people from demons. I felt God was using me to break open the ground for other ministries to come into the area, which later happened.

In Houston, I also hosted a weekly television talk show on a local TV station and every Monday night, I went to the Harris County Jail to preach to the inmates. This was always a powerful time, where we saw numerous inmates getting convicted of their sins and radically saved.

After two years, God told me to hand over the ministry and I moved to San Diego, California, with my family and a team to start a ministry and unite the pastors in the area to reach out to the homosexual community of Hillcrest. After hosting reconciliation dinners in a local church, the pastors started working together and using each other’s church facilities. Every weekend, I had an outreach to the homosexual and transvestite community, seeing several of them getting saved and set free.

A year later, after God led me to go to Anchorage, Alaska to speak to me about the next step He wanted me to take, we moved to Beverly Hills, California, to minister to the Jewish people there. This was my next assignment. I started weekly Bible studies among actors and actresses and opened a marriage and relationship counseling office. Sometime later, I started church services in a small theater in the heart of Hollywood and recorded two worship albums named “Prescription” and “Perfume.” We also hosted Christian rock shows in Hollywood clubs. Besides this, we had a feeding ministry, picking up daily food donations from the health supermarkets, and distributing it to the homeless, the struggling Hollywood actors and actresses, as well as homeless shelters all over the city of Los Angeles.

God was opening doors for me to start going to celebrity parties, where I could minister to the people in the Industry in Hollywood. I became known as the “Party Pastor,” radically ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ and praying for the partygoers.

In the summer of 2005, God gave me a peculiar dream where He told me He was going to deliver me from something that had bothered me for years. I couldn’t understand what it meant at all, so I was greatly puzzled.

One day, my wife and I got into an argument, and she left. The Lord told me that she would never return, and He revealed to me that she was the “something” that He was delivering me from. It was during this time that in a very unusual set of circumstances, God brought Sophia back into my life. I had met her in the mid 90’s during one of the tours with my band in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I invited her to come and be part of the God’s Pleasure church in Holland, which she did. She went back to Denmark a couple of months later since the church had dissolved, and we had sporadic contact after that.

At this point, I had not talked to her for 5 years and she was going through a divorce of an 8-year marriage to an abusive husband. Sophia herself was starting to realize some serious issues from her own life and upbringing, as God was revealing to her that she had grown up in a cultic environment, being controlled and manipulated by her mother all her life. Together, we became fully aware of exactly what the Jezebel Spirit was, and why God had put us together.

God was setting us up, unbeknownst to us, to be with each other and we got married the following year. Since then, and still to this day, we continue to receive prophetic words of confirmation that it was God who brought us together. For the sake of putting an end to the past and beginning a new future together, we also decided to take my middle name, Christiaan, as our legal last name.

Shortly after that, God commanded us to engage in an all-out war with this vicious demonic Jezebel Spirit by openly confronting and exposing it, in order to bring liberation to many who have been victimized and harmed by this evil spirit in the body of Christ. We did so through personal confrontations with those possessing this dark spirit, writing studies and books about it, and explaining the devastating effects of this spirit in the media. We traveled extensively, preaching and teaching about this subject in churches and in our own prophetic meetings all over the United States and other countries.

The result was that hundreds of people all over the world gained great understanding and enlightenment by our actions. Through this process, we have learned to battle the intimidation, retaliation, false accusations, and persecution coming from confronting the Jezebel Spirit. Battling the Spirit of Jezebel has freed us tremendously and has made us very knowledgeable and spiritually strong. Like most wars, you will always have casualties, and we have had our share. We lost family members, friends, reputation, and possessions, and yet through it all, God took care of us faithfully, always comforting us, providing for us, and encouraging us.

In 2008, Sophia wrote an autobiography book in Danish with the title “ONDSKAB – Ruth Stjal Mit Liv,” (English, “Evil – How My Mother Stole My Life,”) that dealt in details with how she broke free from the grip of a dangerous religious sect led by her own mother, and the consequences she had to bare following. The book received tremendous attention in the news media. Some said the attention she received was only compared to the press coverage at end of the Second World War in Denmark. Within the first 3 weeks, it had already become a bestseller.

Translated from Danish to English, the backside of her book says the following:

“Imagine waking up 28 years old, realizing that your whole life has been one big lie. Your family is not who you think they are. Your marriage is not your own choosing. Your life is in the hands of people, who abuse and exploit you. The person you think you are, is actually a shaped and formed product of indoctrination from your childhood. Your identity, your thoughts, your opinions, your beliefs – your entire world has been distorted.

This is how Sophia Evensen (Now Sophia Christiaan) finally woke up to the reality one day in August of 2005. She had one week to prepare herself to lose everything she owned; her career, her family, her marriage, and even her own daughter. With a conditioned mind and carrying baggage from a childhood as the disowned daughter of the country’s most well-known religious cult leader, she began a journey toward true freedom. An almost impossible battle of life and death, in the hunt for her true self.

Sophia Evensen’s (Christiaan’s) true story is a shocking narrative about religious fanaticism, brainwash, disturbing exposures, divorce, love and intrigues, and a controversial battle between good and evil forces in her personal showdown with the perpetrator in her life, her own mother, Ruth Evensen, leader of the charismatic church, the Father’s House (Danish, Faderhuset), who triggered one of the country’s biggest scandals through the purchase of the most disputed building in Denmark, the infamous “Youth House” on Jagtvej 69 in Copenhagen.

It is a book about evil without limits. Evil with one single purpose – achieving total power!

The members of this church sect led by Sophia’s mother are subjected to systematic, extreme control and brainwash. Couples are split and put together. Men are being emasculated, meaning men get psychologically overpowered by women until they let go of their natural authority. The members are being isolated from their families and are required to give up all their possessions, including toys for the children. Couples, for instance, have to ask the leader for permission to have sex with each other. Many of them have testified of being “blasted,” which is a cleansing ritual where members encircle an individual and scream at them for about an hour until they are completely “free” from demons. In reality, they get “broken” – a term that is used in the sect for breaking down an individual’s own will and independence and become a totally obedient soldier.

They are forced to bow their knees in front of other members to confess deep, detailed sin – even perceived sin in their thought life. Everyone must be utterly honest and completely transparent with everyone. In this setting, a member can be chastised by being kicked, yelled at, or forced to lay down on the ground in submission. There is a whole system of “snitching,” where everyone must report on each other to the leadership things they hear or see other members doing or saying that is considered rebellious or deviating from what they are instructed to do by the leader. There have been several reports of children being abused in the sect, and sexual violations of minors that has been deliberately unreported to the authorities.

Many of the ex-members of this sect are so damaged when they come out that they are not able to cope with themselves, society, or their personal faith in God. Since I played a big role in Sophia’s coming out of this sect, I was targeted by her mother, the leader of the sect, who vowed to kill me because I confronted her personally with the evil she is doing in the lives of people. She called a month of prayer and fasting, setting a date for my destruction, and persecuted me in the media with false accusations, calling me, among other things, a voodoo man, false prophet, and insinuated that I was giving Sophia poison in her food. She also led her followers in cursing the womb of Sophia, so she would not be able to conceive a child with me.

Sophia’s mother liked to express her opinions about Christian matters to the secular media, elevating herself to a sort of spokesperson for Christians in Denmark. In the following years, she attempted to start her own political party and run for a local election, trying to be an alternative to the other Christian political party in the country, but failed.

In Sophia’s newly published English version of her autobiography, “EVIL – How My Mother Stole My Life” (2019), there is an added chapter containing updates regarding developments in her mother’s cult since the publication of the original book. Follow her book Facebook page here.

I knew from the beginning that this was much more than a feud between mother and daughter, and that this battle had greater implications for Denmark and for us personally. We were fighting a spiritual battle against evil forces.

Several spiritual leaders and prophets confirmed us that the spirit we were dealing with truly was one of these narcissistic (someone who wants power and controls and manipulates others to get it, and who is not able to admit any fault or wrongdoing), evil spirit’s called “Jezebel” – operating through Sophia’s mother, which was holding Denmark captive and restraining the revival God wants to bring – since it is controlling and isolating people from their families, manipulating them by teaching them false doctrine, and thereby deceiving many innocent people and bringing division in the Body of Christ.

The Spirit of Jezebel is like an arrow that shoots against God’s church, since it rises up as the only true voice of God. It hates the prophets of God and wants to silence them. God commanded us to confront this demonic spirit’s unfruitful works.

This was far from an easy task for us, and it was at times very painful since it involved Sophia’s very own family, and because of the persecution we had to endure. But God, in His love, always reminded us that we were not living for ourselves but for Him, to do His purpose on this earth to His glory. Jesus suffered and sacrificed Himself for us to set us free from sin and bondage, and no matter the cost, we were willing to obey Him, follow His example, and hold on to His promises.

Since that time, we have received hundreds of emails and letters from people all over Denmark and the world, who has been hurt, and had their faith in God destroyed by various other Jezebel Spirits. We have been able to encourage many of those, including previous sect members, to find healing and restoration through forgiveness, so they can receive God’s true Word and be set totally free. We explain to them that the seducing Jezebel Spirit has nothing at all to do with the love and mercy of Jesus Christ and the way He treats us. Through this website, we give them further Biblical tools to handle this Spirit and other evil Spirits.

As traveling ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and through our counseling ministry, we have seen many people through the years who just like us have been bitten by the devilish Jezebel Spirit, be set completely free from their torment and wounds through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We wrote a powerful book on the subject of the Jezebel Spirit in 2015 entitled, “DIVORCE JEZEBEL – Remarry Christ Your Destiny” which is available in paperback and Kindle e-book on Amazon. Order the book here.

We, along with other God’s men and women, believe that the power of the Jezebel Spirit has been broken over Denmark and that the time has now come for God’s pouring out of His Spirit over this country and finally bring revival.

Despite all the battles, Sophia and I feel very honored and blessed by having been used by God as a puzzle in His restoration process for Denmark. After six years, we have completed what God wanted us to do, which was to speak out against this evil Jezebel Spirit that rules over the country of Denmark. That chapter has now come to a conclusion.

There have been many prophecies spoken over Denmark about how spiritually dark the country is, but one prophecy in particularly stood out for us, and that is in Anne Elmer’s book of 2007 “On a trip with the Lion of Judah.”

In chapter 13 – “The Problem with Pride” it says it all:

“Next, we came to a big wooden cabin in Denmark and when we entered, the congregation was singing worship songs, but it wasn’t worship. That bothered me because I could feel that the singing didn’t come from the heart! The Lord said, “There is no unity here, but there will be.” He was always positive about the future.

I saw some individuals who really worshiped, but I also saw some who certainly did not. They had their eyes open, didn’t sing, and had a cold facial expression. Others just pretended. They had their eyes closed, but I could see that their hearts were cold.

The Lord showed me the problems in this church. The first was with one of the members of the leader team. There were six people in the board of elders and all of them were faceless, except one. (Through this vision I realized that if I couldn’t see the face of the pastors or worship leaders, it meant that they are humble people who don’t take the glory for themselves but give it to the Lord.) The only face I was able to see, was that of a female priest who was manipulating, dominating, and proud.

The other problem was that some of the elders who were well up in age, didn’t want to flow with the Lord but were, just like the priest, proud of what they had accomplished by themselves, and they had their own agenda. (I didn’t feel there was a specific problem with either female pastors or elders who have been elders for many years, but the problem was with anyone who is proud, dominating, and who wants to follow their own agenda!)

The scene changed, and it was as if I was watching a cartoon of the same building, but now we were outside of it and there was obviously a big party going on inside. A lot of noise and light seeped out from all the windows and through the cracks in the roof, which got bigger from the building moving to the music! The elders of the church were holding on to strong ropes in the attempt to keep the building down and prevent it from flying away.

As we were watching, the female pastor was pushed out through the roof, and then the Lion went around and either cut the ropes or put a paw of the heads of the elders, so they melted. He got rid of all the bad influence, and I knew it was an answer to prayer from the few true worshiping members of the church. All they had had to do was pray and leave it to the Lord, who took care of it the best way – His way.

After this, the scene changed again, and we were at another church service. The board of elders, without the woman I had seen being pushed out, were standing in the front of the church. A leader said that none of the pastors had received a message for the Sunday morning service, so they would just sit in silence and listen to what the Lord might say. I know this would never have been allowed while the “proud” priest was there. She would have had everything planned for every service! There would also have been uproar of panic coming from the elders, who wanted the service to always be organized and planned.

We waited for quite some time, and then one of the elders got up. He had been an elder for many years, and he started crying and saying that he has regretted many things. I didn’t hear his full confession because the Lion turned to me and said, “It’s okay for us to leave now. The change has begun.”

When I later thought about this church, the Lord showed me a verse I think fits well: “In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.” (Judges 21:25 NLT)

I realized that a church without unity doesn’t have the King. And those who don’t know the King do as they find best or what seems right to them. How sad this is! His agenda is so much more interesting and exciting than ours.”

Overall, looking back at my 30 years in ministry, I am excited about all the wonderful things God has allowed me to see and experience and be part of. The best part is always seeing people’s lives been radically changed and catapulted into a blessed new future. It has been a great privilege to be used by God in prophesying, preaching, singing, encouraging, and ministering in general, seeing Jesus Christ giving new hope and direction to many.

Although Sophia and I have been through tremendous battles and many unusual experiences during our 15 years together, we consider it a great privilege to have learned invaluable lessons that has greatly enriched our lives. On a personal level, dealing with controversial and difficult issues directly involving our persons has not always been easy. We have experienced false accusations and misunderstandings, which has caused pain. Nevertheless, we have been greatly comforted by our Heavenly Father, and have never stopped growing in our love relationship to Him. Also, the Lord has never allowed us to be stopped or defeated but have continued to preach the Gospel and bless and love friends and enemies all these years!

We know that God allows ALL things for a reason, the good and the bad. He knows why we have to go through hurtful things, but in the end, it all works out for the GOOD!

In June 2020, Sophia wrote a message on Facebook to clarify some false allegations that still linger on the internet from the 1990’s about my church in Holland. Here is her moving letter:

“FOR THE RECORD” – JUNE 11, 2020 – By Sophia Christiaan

Edwin Christiaan and I have been slandered, lied about, mistreated, falsely accused, judged, and rejected many times over during our 15 years together.

It has mainly come from other Christians, who believe false reports and assume things without any knowledge.

But we consider it a great privilege when this happens because this is nothing new, but something very normal to experience as God’s children living in the Light. (Matthew 5:11-12)

They can never point to anything we have done wrong to them, because our conduct has been godly and flawless; we have loved unconditionally, served tirelessly, and preached the Gospel in its entirety, never compromising or watering it down, and never for monetary gain!

We have lived meagerly on almost nothing and never received a salary, steady income, or had faithful monthly partners. Yet, we have traveled the world for 15 years miraculously and preached Jesus from coast to coast in the US, Canada, several Caribbean islands, Scandinavia, Europe, and Israel.

We have encouraged people, led them to salvation, seen many healings, marriages restored, impossible cases solved, and spread hope in Christ wherever we have gone.

We have never been itinerary preachers, hardly ever been invited, never had our expenses paid for up front despite the fact that our anointing many times had a greater impact on the people than they had ever experienced before. Our loving conduct and wise counsel has won many hearts. Almost every day, we receive letters from people telling us how Edwin’s prophecies over their lives have come to pass.

We work hard physically, never shying away from manual labor. We cook for people, clean for people, drive them, feed them, pray for them, fix their stuff, help them out of debt, mediate their conflicts, help them sell their stuff, and so and so on!

From Pentecostals to Evangelicals, we have been ousted by self-righteous pastors and their pastors associations. We have faced false prophets and deceptive teachers. Many Jezebel’s have hated and persecuted us. Often, we have been promised money, but given none.

We have been betrayed and stabbed in the back by many who we thought were friends, all the while responding lovingly and gracefully in return. We have received anonymous violence and death threats and been driven out of town. All for the sake of daring to preach Christ and live like Christ!
Unless you have experienced it yourself or know someone who has, you may think this stuff only pertains to some foreign country with oppressive religious laws. But it is very real, right here in America, in Europe, in the West.

This is a life where you cannot win…with PEOPLE, “Christian” people! When you don’t conform to the religious system of church and you dare to speak the truth of the Word of God, you will face the consequences. However, we know we are not guilty of any wrongdoing, and rest assured in the fact that God knows the truth and will defend and reward us like He always does. In the meantime, we have learned to accept and even rejoice in the fact that God uses even these false accusations against us to accomplish a purpose; exposing who are true Christians and who are not. Sadly, we have come to the conclusion that the Christian Church in general is a toxic and dangerous place to be.

But, we will never give up because we are not doing this for people. We serve people because of our love for Jesus! Jesus is the very prime example of being mistreated and handling it with godliness. The apostle Paul is another wonderful example of this lifestyle. You can read about how he dealt with this among other places in 2. Corinthians 4. Also, remember how Joseph was accused of raping Potiphar’s wife and was thrown in prison for many years? Was he guilty? Remember how John the Baptist was beheaded for standing for the truth? Was that wrong? David was hunted like an animal by Saul for years! Had he done something to deserve that?

Edwin always tells me: “Let them say whatever they want! They have every right and every freedom!” He has never retaliated or dragged anyone to court. Year in, year out, again and again, he has paid the price and taken great losses for the way he has been treated, and he has only gotten more humble and more godly because of it. He says that he wouldn’t be the man he is today if it wasn’t for this. Wow! What a great example he has been to me! I cannot begin to tell you the magnitude of the lessons I have learned from this man. And through it all, he remains positive and bursting of faith every day. The Lord comes to him at night and speaks tenderly to him, encouraging him, and giving him great grace to continue the race – victoriously!

My point is this: Of course we are not perfect. We all make mistakes, and we may unintentionally have made some that angered or hurt someone along the way. We will always acknowledge that if brought to our attention. We are quick to apologize and quick to forgive. But in our case, our biggest mistake has been believing Christians are our allies, trusting them to be true brothers and sisters in the Lord. We have met thousands over the years, and yet less than a dozen remain in fellowship with us. Where there should be unity and harmony, there is discord and jealousy. Where we expect the Church to raise up people to come to their full potential and calling, we have seen control and manipulation. Where there is a hunger for love and encouragement, we have seen wounded and damaged believers, living in hurt and condemnation for the way the Church has treated them. What a shame. And we want revival? We want people to come to church? We want them to be slaves to the system in the church, becoming cash cows for greedy and self-serving “apostles”?

There is so much we could say about the state of the Church today, so many stories of abuse going around, and we will get to that. But today, I am setting the record straight, in the hope that others will be comforted and encouraged, knowing they are not alone.

There is slander on the internet about Edwin and I right now. You are free to go feast your eyes on the filthy things their perverted minds have made up! And surely, if you believe the allegations, you will be quick to unfriend and unfollow us too! But for the record: Not one ounce of it is true! Events have been completely twisted and taken out of context. On our website, and written in our books, “Divorce Jezebel, Remarry Christ Your Destiny”, “EVIL – How my mother stole my life”, we give a detailed account of how things went in the past regarding some of the issues that are talked about on the internet. Everything stems from the church Edwin had in Holland during the years from 1988-1995 mixed with issues regarding my mother’s cult in Denmark.

FOR THE RECORD: Edwin has never had any inappropriate sexual contact with any minors, was never unfaithful to his ex-wife of 17 years (1988-2005), was not a controlling cult leader, did/do not use pornography, has never held anyone against their will, and did not abandon his son, but has a very good relationship with him. Edwin has never been brought to court, never been sued, and never been convicted of any crimes. He has a flawless criminal record. For many years, we have put it publicly on our website for all to see, an explanation of why we decided to change our names legally. There is nothing sinister or strange about this. So, if you have heard any of these claims, you have believed liars, who for whatever reasons, seek to destroy a man of God, while staying anonymous. These are the same people who have sent us anonymous death threats.

Regarding the death threats, we have responded to them with the love of Jesus, seeking to win them. We have asked them what they believe we have done wrong and asked forgiveness for anything THEY FEEL has been done wrong to them. They have not provided any information, events, circumstances, details, or specifics about any situations.

I want to end with the words of the apostle Paul in 1. Corinthians 4:10-13 where is says:

“Our dedication to Christ makes us look like fools, but you claim to be so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are so powerful! You are honored, but we are ridiculed. Even now we go hungry and thirsty, and we don’t have enough clothes to keep warm. We are often beaten and have no home. We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us. We appeal gently when evil things are said about us. Yet we are treated like the world’s garbage, like everybody’s trash – right up to the present moment.”

Thank you for reading this and may God bless you!

In 2017, God began speaking to us about moving to Toronto, and we began frequent visits to Canada to pray and seek the Lord. During this time, the Lord told us about a “Move of Humility” that He wants to bring among His people in order to be effective in reaching the world for the Gospel. You can follow our work in Canada on our Facebook page, Move of Humility. Here is the vision God gave us:

After 14 years of traveling with our ministry, The Institute of Love Ministries International, throughout the USA, Europe, and the Caribbean, God called us to go to the city of Toronto, Canada. He revealed to us that He is going to ignite a “Move of Humility” in the streets of downtown Toronto, that ultimately will spread throughout other cities around the world.

This is the word the Lord gave us concerning the city of Toronto:

“My children, says the Lord, come back to Me, and I will heal your hearts. I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will guide you into a “Move of Humility,” giving you My knowledge and understanding. Yes, I would love to treat you as My own children. I look forward to you calling Me Father. The hard ground has been plowed. The time has come. Many will say, I hear a cry, like that of a woman in labor, the groans of a woman giving birth. In that day, the streets of Downtown Toronto will be known for My love. All nations will come there to honor Me. Yes, we’re coming, the people say, for the Lord Jesus Christ is our God!”

As God was revealing this word to us, He began speaking to us about how the Church in general has no power; how it has become utterly ineffective! Many Christians have identical lives to those of the World! The unconditional, humble, loving, and giving attitude of Jesus Christ is not being seen in the Church today.

Rather, the Church has been busy dominating and controlling the people, guilt tripping them with false teachings, obligating them to pay tithes, and fleecing them out of their money. The Church is charging for everything; conferences, bible schools, worship seminars, even food and coffee! In church environments steeped in religion and tradition, many continue to struggle financially as well as with their physical health, believing false prophesies that never come to pass. Leaders are busy praising and celebrating themselves with much boasting and fanfare. Instead of building up the people, the church is busy building their own empires. Churches have very little real impact on their local communities, let alone society in general.

The Church is supposed to represent Jesus Christ like the first church did in the Bible book of Acts. They were humble, devoted, and they shared everything they had with each other. No one had lack! And because of this Christlike attitude, they enjoyed the goodwill of the people around them, and many were getting saved on a daily basis. Everyone was amazed by the many genuine miracles and wonders they were seeing, performed by the apostles.

This upcoming “Move of Humility” is about the church going back to the model of the first church and the teachings of the Apostle Paul, where, led by true shepherds of God, the people lovingly serve one another by sharing what they have and giving to the poor and the needy! In other words, their love turned into actions of caring and sharing!

And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Acts 2:44-47 NLT

All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.

Acts 4:32-35 NLT

This is the same model the apostle Paul used to teach the Corinthian Church:

Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality. Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal.

2. Corinthians 8:11-14 NLT

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”

2. Corinthians 9:7-9 NLT

God wants to restore His body, His Church, whom He has chosen to represent His Son Jesus Christ in attitude on this earth!

For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son!

Romans 8:29 NLT

That is why the Bible teaches us, the Church,

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form, He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Philippians 2:3-8 NLT

As the Church humble herself before God, it will now have the power to effectively resist the devil, who must and will flee. The Church will experience God’s favor, victory, and breakthroughs in every area!

Therefore He says:

God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

James 4:6-7 NKJV
