DESPERATE FOR MONEY

By Edwin Christiaan | May 3, 2021

“Some who are poor pretend to be rich.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Bible further says that,

“People who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” 1. Timothy‬ ‭6:9-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

These are the people who fall for all types of fraud. The most common tricks are the get rich quick “advance-fee” scam. This scam typically involves promising the victim a significant share of a large sum of money in return for a small up-front payment, which the fraudster claims will be used to obtain the large sum. If a victim makes the payment, the fraudster either invents a series of further fees for the victim, or simply disappears.

I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’

“But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:9-14‬ ‭NLT
