“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10 NLT

This is why the Bible warns us about pastors and preachers, who in their greed will make up all sorts of clever lies (like the “you must tithe” to be blessed teachings), to get hold of your money (see 2. Peter 2:3)!

These are false shepherds, who are in the ministry to make money instead of genuinely caring for the flock (see 1. Peter 5:2)!

These church leaders love only themselves and their money. They boast about themselves and are prideful (see 2. Timothy 3:2).

“They are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.” Titus 1:11 NLT

“Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.” 1. Timothy 6:5 NLT

The Apostle Paul also said about these people that they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, a different kind of Spirit and a different kind of gospel (see 2. Corinthians 11:4).

Yes! These false pastors and teachers are preaching the gospel of money and success! They enslave the people with Old Testament law teachings, take everything they have, take advantage of them, and take control of everything (see 2. Corinthians 11:20).

Look, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was never meant to do business with, making money of it, investing in buildings, living in luxury, buying mansions, driving Ferrari’s, and flying around in private jets on the expense of the people’s money. Jesus didn’t do this sort of thing, neither did the disciples! No, the true Gospel of Jesus Christ is about leading people into His salvation of grace and teaching them to become like Him.

Christ’s disciples should walk in humility and in an attitude of caring for and sharing with others, just like the First Church did in the book of Acts.

“And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” Acts of the Apostles 2:44-47 NLT

“All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.” Acts 4:32-35 NLT

Or, as the Apostle Paul teaches, “Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others; then they will not be unproductive.” Titus 3:14 NLT

This is not the example of a serving, giving attitude we see amongst these greedy, money-loving pastors and preachers. All I can say is, “To hell with the false Christian church!”
