When a pastor is telling you that you will be robbing God and be cursed if you don’t pay your tithes, (giving 10 percent of your monetary income to the church,) he or she is lying to you! In reality, it is the pastor who is robbing you, stealing your money!
These pastors are falsely using the Old Testament Law of Moses, meant for the Israelites farmers, who had to give 10% of their crops once a year to the Levite priests, to make his members do the same, but now as a spiritual principle conveniently using money instead of agricultural products. In the following passage, the Lord was admonishing the Israelites for failing to obey this law of tithing,
“Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me,” Malachi 3:8-9 NKJV
So, this is how these pastors obligate, pressure, and guilt trip churchgoing believers to pay tithes. If they don’t give tithes, they will be “robbing God” and “get cursed.” The Bible says about these evil pastors that,
“In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money.” 2. Peter 2:3 NLT
Not only that, these pastors also put the people in bondage by making them keep the Old Testament Law.
They are telling you that God will curse you if you do not tithe. But actually, it is the opposite that will happen to you, you will be cursed when you DO keep the law of tithing.
The apostle Paul, who knew everything about keeping the Law of Moses, including tithing, says about what Jesus did when He died on the cross,
“He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations.”Ephesians 2:15 NLT
“But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When He was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” Galatians 3:13 NLT
This same apostle Paul, free from the Law, is now teaching the New Testament believer about how to give,
“Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality. Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal.” 2 Corinthians 8:11-14 NLT
“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2. Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT
Tithing is nothing more than an elaborate universal scam, designed to steal your money and rob you from God’s true blessings!
