Pastors who are telling you that the Lord will rebuke the devourer out of your life and protect you against sickness and disease if you faithfully pay your tithes to the church are lying to you. Just look how many of these pastors who are teaching this false tithing doctrine are getting sick themselves and even die. Why did God not protect them? It is simply because these pastors are deceiving you to get your money!

These pastors falsely use the Old Testament Bible book of Malachi chapter 3, where God is speaking to the Israelite farmers who were commanded under the law of Moses to give 10% of their agricultural products and livestock ONCE A YEAR to the Temple. The Lord told the Israelites, among other things, that when they obey this law of tithing, He will do the following, “I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;” Malachi‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭NKJV

‬‬So, based on this verse, these crooked pastors tell their members how important and detrimental it is to pay at least a 10% tithe of your gross income to the church in order to be protected against the devourer and be blessed in your finances, health, marriage, family, work, and every other area of your life! But then, one day, these same pastors are standing in front of their congregation confessing that they have an incurable disease, or that their wife of twenty some years had multiple affairs for a span of five years! What happened? How come the tithing didn’t propel God to rebuke to devourer from destroying their health and marriage, as they themselves so often preach? This tells me again how ridiculous and deceptive this whole “must” tithe doctrine is. Tithing was and is NEVER meant for the New Testament believer. It is just a guilt trip tool to get money from people. Instead, the Bible teaches that,

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2. Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT
