Edwin Christiaan and I have been slandered, lied about, mistreated, falsely accused, judged, and rejected many times over during our 15 years together.

It has mainly come from other Christians, who believe false reports and assume things without any knowledge.

But we consider it a great privilege when this happens because this is nothing new, but something very normal to experience as God’s children living in the Light. (Matthew 5:11-12)

They can never point to anything we have done wrong to them, because our conduct has been godly and flawless; we have loved unconditionally, served tirelessly, and preached the Gospel in its entirety, never compromising or watering it down, and never for monetary gain!

We have lived meagerly on almost nothing and never received a salary, steady income, or had faithful monthly partners. Yet, we have traveled the world for 15 years miraculously and preached Jesus from coast to coast in the US, Canada, several Caribbean islands, Scandinavia, Europe, and Israel.

We have encouraged people, led them to salvation, seen many healings, marriages restored, impossible cases solved, and spread hope in Christ wherever we have gone.

We have never been itinerary preachers, hardly ever been invited, never had our expenses paid for up front despite the fact that our anointing many times had a greater impact on the people than they had ever experienced before. Our loving conduct and wise counsel has won many hearts. Almost every day, we receive letters from people telling us how Edwin’s prophecies over their lives have come to pass.

We work hard physically, never shying away from manual labor. We cook for people, clean for people, drive them, feed them, pray for them, fix their stuff, help them out of debt, mediate their conflicts, help them sell their stuff, and so and so on!

From Pentecostals to Evangelicals, we have been ousted by self-righteous pastors and their pastors associations. We have faced false prophets and deceptive teachers. Many Jezebel’s have hated and persecuted us. Often, we have been promised money, but given none.

We have been betrayed and stabbed in the back by many who we thought were friends, all the while responding lovingly and gracefully in return. We have received anonymous violence and death threats and been driven out of town. All for the sake of daring to preach Christ and live like Christ!

Unless you have experienced it yourself or know someone who has, you may think this stuff only pertains to some foreign country with oppressive religious laws. But it is very real, right here in America, in Europe, in the West.

This is a life where you cannot win…with PEOPLE, “Christian” people! When you don’t conform to the religious system of church and you dare to speak the truth of the Word of God, you will face the consequences. However, we know we are not guilty of any wrongdoing, and rest assured in the fact that God knows the truth and will defend and reward us like He always does. In the meantime, we have learned to accept and even rejoice in the fact that God uses even these false accusations against us to accomplish a purpose; exposing who are true Christians and who are not. Sadly, we have come to the conclusion that the Christian Church in general is a toxic and dangerous place to be.

But, we will never give up because we are not doing this for people. We serve people because of our love for Jesus! Jesus is the very prime example of being mistreated and handling it with godliness. The apostle Paul is another wonderful example of this lifestyle. You can read about how he dealt with this among other places in 2. Corinthians 4. Also, remember how Joseph was accused of raping Potiphar’s wife and was thrown in prison for many years? Was he guilty? Remember how John the Baptist was beheaded for standing for the truth? Was that wrong? David was hunted like an animal by Saul for years! Had he done something to deserve that?

Edwin always tells me: “Let them say whatever they want! They have every right and every freedom!” He has never retaliated or dragged anyone to court. Year in, year out, again and again, he has paid the price and taken great losses for the way he has been treated, and he has only gotten more humble and more godly because of it. He says that he wouldn’t be the man he is today if it wasn’t for this. Wow! What a great example he has been to me! I cannot begin to tell you the magnitude of the lessons I have learned from this man. And through it all, he remains positive and bursting of faith every day. The Lord comes to him at night and speaks tenderly to him, encouraging him, and giving him great grace to continue the race – victoriously!

My point is this: Of course we are not perfect. We all make mistakes, and we may unintentionally have made some that angered or hurt someone along the way. We will always acknowledge that if brought to our attention. We are quick to apologize and quick to forgive. But in our case, our biggest mistake has been believing Christians are our allies, trusting them to be true brothers and sisters in the Lord. We have met thousands over the years, and yet less than a dozen remain in fellowship with us. Where there should be unity and harmony, there is discord and jealousy. Where we expect the Church to raise up people to come to their full potential and calling, we have seen control and manipulation. Where there is a hunger for love and encouragement, we have seen wounded and damaged believers, living in hurt and condemnation for the way the Church has treated them. What a shame. And we want revival? We want people to come to church? We want them to be slaves to the system in the church, becoming cash cows for greedy and self-serving “apostles”?

There is so much we could say about the state of the Church today, so many stories of abuse going around, and we will get to that. But today, I am setting the record straight, in the hope that others will be comforted and encouraged, knowing they are not alone.

There is slander on the internet about Edwin and I right now. You are free to go feast your eyes on the filthy things their perverted minds have made up! And surely, if you believe the allegations, you will be quick to unfriend and unfollow us too! But for the record: Not one ounce of it is true! Events have been completely twisted and taken out of context. On our website, www.instituteoflove.net and written in our books, “Divorce Jezebel, Remarry Christ Your Destiny”, “EVIL – How my mother stole my life”, we give a detailed account of how things went in the past regarding some of the issues that are talked about on the internet. Everything stems from the church Edwin had in Holland during the years from 1988-1995 mixed with issues regarding my mother’s cult in Denmark.

FOR THE RECORD: Edwin has never had any inappropriate sexual contact with any minors, was never unfaithful to his ex-wife of 17 years (1988-2005), was not a controlling cult leader, did/do not use pornography, has never held anyone against their will, and did not abandon his son, but has a very good relationship with him. Edwin has never been brought to court, never been sued, and never been convicted of any crimes. He has a flawless criminal record. For many years, we have put it publicly on our website for all to see, an explanation of why we decided to change our names legally. There is nothing sinister or strange about this. So, if you have heard any of these claims, you have believed liars, who for whatever reasons, seek to destroy a man of God, while staying anonymous. These are the same people who have sent us anonymous death threats.

Regarding the death threats, we have responded to them with the love of Jesus, seeking to win them. We have asked them what they believe we have done wrong and asked forgiveness for anything THEY FEEL has been done wrong to them. They have not provided any information, events, circumstances, details, or specifics about any situations.

I want to end with the words of the apostle Paul in 1. Corinthians 4:10-13 where is says:

“Our dedication to Christ makes us look like fools, but you claim to be so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are so powerful! You are honored, but we are ridiculed. Even now we go hungry and thirsty, and we don’t have enough clothes to keep warm. We are often beaten and have no home. We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us. We appeal gently when evil things are said about us. Yet we are treated like the world’s garbage, like everybody’s trash – right up to the present moment.”

Thank you for reading this and may God bless you!
