Here is some of the reasons why people get hurt in the church by those who are not supposed to be pastors or leaders.
“Never be in a hurry about appointing a church leader.” 1 Timothy 5:22 NLT
In other words, he might not have the calling to be a pastor.
“A church leader must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall.” 1 Timothy 3:6 NLT
In other words, he is immature.
“A church leader is a manager of God’s household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered; he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money.” Titus 1:7 NLT
In other words, he does not walk in the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
“He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?” 1 Timothy 3:4-5 NLT
In other words, he is not able to lead his own family and be a godly example for them to follow.
It also says about church leaders; “Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.” 1 Peter 5:3 NLT
In other words, he is controlling.
EXAMPLE OF BAD LEADERSHIP IN THE BIBLE
“I wrote to the church about this, but Diotrephes, who loves to be the leader, refuses to have anything to do with us. When I come, I will report some of the things he is doing and the evil accusations he is making against us. Not only does he refuse to welcome the traveling teachers, he also tells others not to help them. And when they do help, he puts them out of the church. Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.” 3 John 1:9-11 NLT
