So many Christians fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word! (See Mark 4:17) They blame God for not loving them because of the trials they go through. Why? Does it mean God no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? The answer is NO, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us! (See Romans 8:35+37)

God will correct and discipline those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child! God made it clear that no discipline is enjoyable while it is happening. It is painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way! (See Hebrews 12:6+11)

And when God trains you in this way, you are able to convincingly testify that nothing in the world can ever separate you from God’s love! Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither your fears for today nor your worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate you from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate you from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus your Lord! (See Romans 8:38-39)

Now you can understand what the apostle Paul meant when he said; “You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured, but the Lord rescued me from all of it! Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution!!!” (See 2 Timothy 3:11-12)
