But wait a minute!!! Who is deceiving and confusing who here? Is it the apostle Paul who teaches the New Testament believer that “you must each make up your own mind as to how much you should give.” 2. Corinthians 9:7 NLT, “whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.” 2. Corinthians 8:12 NLT and “on every Lord’s Day, each of you should put aside some amount of money in relation to what you have earned and save it for this offering.” 1. Corinthians 16:2 NLT Or, is it the pastor, who loves to quote the Old Testament law passage in Malachi 3:8-10 NKJV, that was meant for the Jews, who every year were obligated to give 10% of their entire crop and of all their produce in order to support the Levite priests, that says; “you have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!?” It is like this well-known pastor, who told his congregants the other day not to even think about coming to the altar asking for prayer if you are not a tither, implying that those who do not tithe are cursed! What an insult! Are we blatantly going to ignore what the apostle Paul teaches on giving, who himself at one point, before being born-again, was a fervent follower of the Old Testament Law, which included tithing, or are we going to continue to live under the bondage of the Law of Tithing? Do you think that Paul was a liar and teaching heresy? Are you saying that Paul deceived and confused just like all of us who do not believe in tithing? Oh, come on! It is God who do not want us to give religiously or mechanically anymore, because of His Son Jesus Christ, who in His unconditional love gave His life for us, and in return, we eagerly give our lives, including our money, out of our love for Him, and that is exactly what the apostle Paul was advocating when said: “YOU MUST EACH MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND AS TO HOW MUCH YOU SHOULD GIVE!!!” 2. Corinthians 9:7 NLT “WHATEVER YOU GIVE IS ACCEPTABLE IF YOU GIVE IT EAGERLY!!!” 2. Corinthians 8:12 NLT
