Your main and only concern as a true Christian is supposed to be that you try to find out what pleases God and try to understand what He wants you to do. (See Ephesians 5:10,17) It is by being in God’s will that you will find His favor, provision, and protection! (See Exodus 33:12-17) That’s why you should never be like people who are making their own plans and boasting about it, saying; “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” Because how do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” James 4:13-16

King David was one of the many examples of godly people in the Bible who sought to find out God’s will about where he was supposed to go; “After this, David asked the Lord, “Should I move back to one of the towns of Judah?” “Yes,” the Lord replied. Then David asked, “Which town should I go to?” “To Hebron,” the Lord answered.” 2. Samuel 2:1 NLT
