There is not such thing as a “debt-cancellation” fee that has to be sown in order for you to get out of debt, as many of these false prosperity preachers are telling you. These greedy preachers are just making up clever lies to get hold of your money! (See 2. Peter 2:3) They don’t care whether you get deeper in debt, and they are certainly not the type of godly ministry that helps people who have urgent needs. (See Titus 3:14) Just think about it, how can God tell you to give money that you don’t have? As a matter of fact, the Bible says that you should only give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. (2. Corinthians 8:12 NLT) The way God teaches us not to get in debt in the first place, is simply to “owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another.” (Romans 13:8 NLT) And if you do, you should “give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them,…” (Romans 13:7 NLT) God wants us to be good stewards over our money, and that’s why Jesus said; “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” (Luke 16:10 NLT)
These false prosperity preachers like to say things like; God tells you to Pay Him first with your tithes, but what God really tells you is to the Seek Him first! (See Matthew 6:33) And He will be more than able to show you a way out of debt (1. Corinthians 10:13) as you follow His instructions on how to manage your money responsibly; “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” (2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT )
