Last night there were two things bothering me and keeping me from falling asleep. Number one, the continuous dishonesty, blame games, and denials of our first black president Barack Obama of knowing anything about the serious scandals that are surrounding him. Number two, being an African American man myself, a question that I have been wrestling with for some time now is; are there any black leaders who are in the public eye, whether they are spiritual or not, who are trustworthy role models? I found it very hard to answer this question positively, since most of what we as black leaders have done is not worthy of praise. I say we, because even though God has done much work of healing and restoration in me, I still take it upon myself and feel kind of responsible for many of the wrong behaviors of black leaders.
Black, spiritual leaders are often acting more like pimps, concerned about having lots of money, power, and notoriety. Instead of caring for their own people, they are fleecing them. Also, there is not a high standard when it comes to honesty, sexual morals, and being faithful in marriage. Much of the same can be said about the failures of black political leaders. Why is that? Not too long ago, I wrote a blog called “Culture Demons” that deals with cultures in this world being infected by evil spirits and generational curses, which causes people and Christians alike to live in bondage and keeps them from knowing the truth of Christ that can set them free.
I believe that we as black people are living under the bondage of a generational “slavery mentality” curse. And because of this generational curse of bondage, it is no surprise that President Obama is doomed to fail, unless he comes to the knowledge to allow God to rescue and deliver him from this curse. Today, together with my black brothers and sisters who have been delivered from this generational curse of failure, I want to stand in the gap and intercede for our black leaders and the black people in general to repent, be set free, and healed in the Name of Jesus Christ!!! “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” 2. Chronicles 7:14 NLT
