Four years ago, in 2008, I wrote a study called “The White House” which was about the then elected president of the United States, Barack Obama. In that article, I compared Obama with King Saul who was chosen by the people of Israel against God’s will. God warned them, through the prophet Samuel, of what kind of a bad leader their choice king would be. But regardless all the warnings, the people of Israel insisted on having their king, and ultimately, God gave Saul to them so they would find out that it would not work out to their benefit! The story of King Saul is eerily similar to that of President Obama.
So Samuel passed on the Lord’s warning to the people who were asking him for a king.
“This is how a king will reign over you,” Samuel said.
“The king will draft your sons and assign them to his chariots and his charioteers, making them run before his chariots.
Some will be generals and captains in his army, some will be forced to plow in his fields and harvest his crops, and some will make his weapons and chariot equipment.
The king will take your daughters from you and force them to cook and bake and make perfumes for him. He will take away the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his own officials.
He will take a tenth of your grain and your grape harvest and distribute it among his officers and attendants.
He will take your male and female slaves and demand the finest of your cattle and donkeys for his own use.
He will demand a tenth of your flocks, and you will be his slaves.
When that day comes, you will beg for relief from this king you are demanding, but then the Lord will not help you.” But the people refused to listen to Samuel’s warning. “Even so, we still want a king,” they said. “We want to be like the nations around us. Our king will judge us and lead us into battle.”
So Samuel repeated to the Lord what the people had said, and the Lord replied, “Do as they say, and give them a king.” Then Samuel agreed and sent the people home. 1. Samuel 8:10-22 NLT
The people of America were also warned by many prophets about how Obama would reign over them and bring destruction upon the people and the nation.
President Barack Obama promised change to the nation by leading it into a European style socialistic humanistic society of equality. He promised to stimulate the economy, but instead Obama is on track to have the worst jobs record of any president in the modern era. After three and a half years, it is clear that the Obama economy hasn’t worked at all for those who needed the most help. Instead, Americans are losing their jobs, wages and incomes are down, while they are paying more for health care, gasoline, and even college tuition. President Obama did not make life better for the financially hurting and struggling middle-class families.
Prophets also warned America that Obama would be an ungodly, immoral president who would openly endorse gay marriage. He even ordered the Catholic Church to provide contraceptives to prevent the birth of new life. President Obama is a man who is not able to admit wrongdoing or take responsibility for his actions, but instead resolves to blame others for the problems he has caused, just like King Saul did.
After knowing all this, my question is: Why would a devout Christian support and vote for a man like President Obama, who clearly defies God and His commandments? Why?
