It is true that the Bible calls us to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect (See Matthew 5:48), which means to be completed in Christ. In another words, God who started a good work in us will complete it or perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ. (See Philippians 1:6) This has nothing to do with someone being a perfectionist! Being perfectionistic is a sign of immaturity where an individual has a poor self-perception. A Perfectionist puts totally unrealistic expectations on himself and others. The perfectionist feels he has to be perfect in everything he does in order to feel acceptable to himself and others, which is a hopeless situation to be in. The perfectionist can’t forgive himself when he has done wrong, because in his mind he wasn’t perfect. The perfectionist seeks to control all areas of his life.
